Undescended testicle is one of the most common defect of male genitalia,it is also called cryptorchidism i.e. testis has not moved in its proper position that is scrotum at time of birth.
Usually one testicle is effected but in 10% of the time both testicles are undescended & it is more common among premature male babies.
Roughly around 5% of undescended testicle gets arrested in abdominal cavity after formation, (intraabdominal).When Testicle not being seen or felt in the Scrotum ,is the main sign of Undescended Testicle
The recommended age of surgery 6 months to 12 months.
Early surgical intervention appears to lower the risk of late complications.
The complications of not treating Undescended Testicles are Atrophy due to high body temperature , more prone for Torsion, Trauma and Tumor.
An Undescended testicle is usually corrected
with surgery.(Orchidopexy)
undescended testicle, the most difficult one to manage is intraabdominal testis.

Intraabdominal testis earlier used to be operated by open method in stages and the results were very poor and mostly testis gets atrophied.
Laparoscopic intervention is ideal method to manage intraabdominal testis, that is done mostly in one stage and gives gratifying results.
