Ovarian cyst

On antenatal ultrasonography, incidental detection of ovarian cyst is most frequent intra abdominal cyst . How ever' many other cystic lesions are having similar appearances. Postnatal serial ultrasonography is needed for management of these cysts to detect any structural changes (size, appearance) or complications like ascites, torsion or intra cystic bleeding along with heterogeneous structure.
Surgery is the mainstay of management.
Incidental detection of Ovarian cyst is not very uncommon on antenatal ultrasound. In most of the cases,It does not require immediate intervention in neonatal period. However, ovarian cyst with complications like large size, hemorrhage, torsion, require surgical intervention urgently. Laparoscopic intervention is prefered now a days. It gives the most gratifying result .The youngest's child is 10 days old operated by me, for Torsion of Ovarian cyst.
