Intussusception -

Intussusception is a serious condition in which part of the intestine slides into an adjacent part of the intestine. This telescoping action often blocks food or fluid from passing through. Intussusception also cuts off the blood supply to the part of the intestine that's affected.

Most of the time, the cause of intussusception is not clear .In some cases, it might follow a recent attack of gastroenteritis. Rarely lead piont can be there in form of polyp. 

The clinical presentation the classic triad  of intussusception abdominal pain, palpable mass, and bloody stool. Instead, it might presents with the symptoms of small or large bowel obstruction.

Diagnosis - Although intussusception can sometimes be felt as an abdominal mass during a physical examination, ultrasonography is able to identify the mass with 100% accuracy.

Treatment-Treatment consists of symptom management and surgical correction if needed. It may be possible to push the intestine back into place using an enema. If this fails, surgery may be required either by open or laparoscopic method.
