Management
Congenital Hydrocephalus
ongenital hydrocephalus is one of the commonest congenital anomalies of the central nervous system. It is characterized by extensive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the ventricles of the brain due to an imbalance between synthesis and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid.
The most common cause of congenital hydrocephalus is obstruction of the cerebral aqueduct.
- Blockage.
- Poor fluid absorption. ...
- Too much fluid .
Diagnosis
CT scans and MRI scans are often used in combination to confirm a diagnosis of hydrocephalus present from birth (congenital) and hydrocephalus that develops later in children and adults (acquired).
